Marjorie Mae Crandell Moorman was born January 13, 1928 in Grand Junction. She was one of eight children born to Ralph Emerson Crandell and Winnifred Joy Crandell. Marjorie died September 5, at Regency Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Jefferson at the age of 86 years.
Marjorie attended Grand Junction school and graduated from high school in 1946. She worked in Jefferson for 5 years, and then moved to Carroll in 1952. There she worked at J.C. Penny Company and Spurgeons Store for 19 years.
While living in Carroll, Marjorie was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carroll. She taught Bible School, and taught the four-year-old Sunday School Class.
On June 1, 1986, Marjorie married Voshel Moorman at the First United Methodist Church in Carroll. Voshel passed away in 1990.
In 1993, Marjorie met Dean Perry in Carroll. They moved to Jefferson in 1998 and in 2003 they were married at the Central Christian Church in Jefferson. Marjorie’s hobbies included reading, and collecting angel and butterfly plates. She also enjoyed assisting at Jaques Elementary School, where she helped first grade children with reading. She enjoyed her friends and relatives.
Marjorie cherished the school years with her two sons: William Jay and Christopher Paul. Both boys attended Carroll school and graduated from Carroll High School.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; husband Voshel Moorman in 1990; infant daughter Kristin Gay Calvert in 1960; brothers: Robert, Winston, and Kenneth; sisters: Arlene, Wilma, and Edna; and brother-in-law Wilber Moore. She is survived by her two sons: William Calvert of Story City and Chris Calvert and daughter-in-law Cheryl Gillam of Story City; her husband Dean Perry of Jefferson; daughters Michele (Bob) Chase of Marshalltown and RaeDeen Bittner of Gifford; sister Marian Moore of Des Moines; 5 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
