Ram boys win opener over Ogden led by Miller’s 19

Points were at a premium in the Greene County boys’ season-opening victory Nov. 29, though they were aided by an efficient veteran.
The basketball squad knocked off Ogden, 38-33 in Jefferson to improve to 1-0.
Senior forward Jesse Miller led the way, scoring half of the Rams’ points with 19, knocking down eight of his 11 shots at a 72.7 percent clip. The veteran also blocked five shots in addition to three rebounds.
Greene County shot 35.7 percent from the field while they held the Bulldogs to just 22 percent shooting, making 13 of 59 from the floor, anchored by a dismal three-for-21 outing beyond the three-point arc. The Rams captured nine steals and tallied a total of seven blocks.
The Rams led 18-15 at the break and used a 13-point outburst in the final frame to secure the victory. Greene County’s Gabe Ebersole nearly secured a double-double, pouring in nine points to go with 10 rebounds. Greene County struggled to hit shots from deep as well, making just four of their 20 three point attempts.
Their game with Panorama set for this past Tuesday was postponned. The co-ed doubleheader has been rescheduled for Monday, Dec. 5.
The Rams next hit the court Friday at home against defending HOIC champion Roland-Story.
GREENE COUNTY GIRLS DENIED BY OGDEN
The Ogden Bulldogs dampened the Greene County girls’ season-opener Monday night, prevailing 55-21 in Jefferson. The Rams scored just 10 first half points including a mere four in the opening quarter.
Senior Emma Hoyle led the Rams with nine points and five rebounds. The Rams shot 23 percent from the field, including 0-for-9 from three. The Bulldogs shot 33 percent anchored by a 6-for-25 performance from deep. The visitors led 24-10 at the break and pulled even further away thanks to a 31-point outburst in the second half.
The Rams host Roland-Story Friday night, who are coming off a 19-6 season a year ago.
