Hinote places 16th overall, Ram harriers take part in loaded Panorama Invitational

After some strong running among their home surroundings, the Greene County cross country teams had a challenge lined up in the form of the Panorama Cross Country Invitational – which boasted several ranked teams and individuals.
At the invite hosted by Panorama High School, held last Thursday in Panora, the Ram boys took eighth in a 14-team field and paced by junior Noah Hinote. Hinote took 16th overall with a time of 18:29, while Greene County took 192 points.
The Ram girls only had three harriers at the meet.
Top-ranked (Class 1A) ACGC won the boys’ side of the meet with 69 points, followed by Atlantic (84 points), Kuemper Catholic (88 points), No. 13-ranked (Class 2A) Clarinda (101 points) and 10-ranked (Class 1A) Ogden (138 points). Urbandale won the girls’ side of the invite with 87 points, followed by fifth-ranked (Class 2A) Van Meter (105 points), No. 19-ranked (Class 3A) Atlantic (124 points), No. 18-ranked (Class 2A) Clarinda (136 points) and host Panorama (147 points).
The Rams have a busy slate this week, racing at the West Marshall Cross Country Invitational this past Tuesday at the Lincoln Valley Golf Course in State Center and competing at the 37th Annual Norsemen Cross Country Invitational, scheduled for today at the Riverbend Golf Course in Story City. The Norsemen Invite is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m.
Results from the two meets will be reported in an upcoming edition of the Jefferson Herald.
Following Noah Hinote in the boys’ meet was a pair of top 40 placers in freshman Brady Carstensen (28th, 19:04) and junior Gavyn Winters (36th, 19:19). Sophomore Carter Hinote (62nd, 20:23) and senior Kolby Angell (77th, 20:34) took spots within the top 100.
Freshman Blaise Schilling (22:24), teammate Eli Carstensen (22:40), teammate Maddox Carstensen (25:16) and Dexter Ritter (32:29) also represented Greene County in the boys’ race.
Sophomore Becca Anderson led the Rams in the girls’ race, finishing 49th with a time of 24:43. Sophomore Ava Minnehan (25:04) and freshman Evelyn Snyder (28:59) also participated at the meet.
