Hinote performs at Class 2A state cross country meet

Greene County’s lone state qualifier wrapped up a breakout season at last month’s Class 2A cross country meet.
Noah Hinote finished 101st with a time of 18:37.67 during the boys’ section Oct. 28, narrowly missing out on the top 100.
The sophomore secured a spot at the annual state meet in Fort Dodge after setting a Greene County school record the week prior, cruising to a time of 17:33.26 during the state qualifying meet in Shenandoah.
Des Moines Christian’s Aaron Fynaardt captured the Class 2A individual state title with a blistering time of 15:50.62, nearly 20 seconds ahead of the field. He was flanked by teammate Caleb Ten Pasa, who finished runner-up with a time of 16:06.33 while Okoboji’s Evan Osler secured a bronze medal by running to a time of 16:18.1.
Okoboji’s Dakota Hesseltine finished ahead of Hinote in 100th place, running to a time of 18:37.54, mere steps quicker than Greene County’s lead runner. Unity Christian’s Lane Scholten finished 99th, running to a time of 18:34.5. A total of 132 runners competed in the Class 2A state meet at the Lakeside Municipal Golf Course.
Des Moines Christian captured the state team title, scoring 75 points thanks to the 1-2 sweep. Okoboji finished runner-up with 99 points while Tipton was third with 120 points.
