Hansen and Finch medal in home meet

Greene County’s high school boys and girls cross country teams hosted an invitational meet out at Spring Lake last Thursday. Many schools were in attendance and the field was divided into four groups: large school boys, small school boys, large school girls and small school girls.

The Ram boys finished ninth as a team in the large school division with a total of 250 points. The final team standings are as follows: 1. Winterset, 2. Nevada, 3. Kuemper Catholic, 4. Roland Story, 5. Algona, 6. Creston, 7. Denison-Schleswig, 8. Perry, 9. Greene County.

Individually, the Rams were led by sophomore Kane Borgeson, as he finished 25th overall with a time of 19:14. Borgeson’s time was good for a personal best. Other finishers for the Rams were Nick Killion, 53rd with a time of 20:46, Michael Eischeid, 102nd with a time of 22:50, Ben Wilkens, 110th with a time of 23:28, Nathan Kennedy, 113th with a time of 23:41 and Jacob Hueser, 152nd with a time of 30:53. Killion and Kennedy recorded finishing times that were good for personal bests.

The Ram girls finished sixth as a team in the large school division with a total of 170 points. The final team standings are as follows: 1. Denison-Schleswig, 2. Winterset, 3. Algona, 4. Creston, 5. Nevada, 6. Greene County, 7. Roland Story, 8. Kuemper Catholic, 9. Perry.

Individually, the Rams were led by junior Olivia Hansen, as she finished eighth overall with a time of 22:09. Hansen’s time was good for a personal best and a medal. Other finishers for the Rams were Emily Finch, 12th with a time of 22:31, Melanie Doran, 52nd with a time of 25:36, Sunny Mobley, 72nd with a time of 28:13, Regan Lamoureux, 75th with a time of 28:18, Emma Larson, 96th with a time of 30:29, Emily Most, 97th with a time of 30:31 and Caytlyn Adamson, 108th with a time of 34:12. Finch’s time was good for both a personal best and a medal and every other female Ram runner recorded a time that was good for a personal best.

Greene County’s next competition is scheduled for tonight at 4:30 p.m. at Panorama.

Kiss finishes 40th for Rockets
The Paton-Churdan high school boys cross country team also competed at the Greene County Invitational last Thursday. The Rockets had four competitors, but did not turn in a team score in the small school boys division. The final team standings for the division are as follows: 1. South Hamilton, 2. Panorama, 3. Ogden, 4. Southeast Valley, 5. Colo-NESCO, 6. Des Moines Christian, 7. West Marshall, 8. Guthrie Center, 9. Audubon, 10. C-M-B, 11. IKM-Manning, 12. Orient-Macksburg.

Individually, the Rockets were led by senior Levi Kiss, as he finished 40th overall with a time of 19:41. Other finishers for the Rockets were Isaac Ireland, 53rd with a time of 20:31, Jack Bryson, 82nd with a time of 22:37 and Trevor Bundt, 115th with a time of 25:34.

Paton-Churdan will also compete in the meet hosted by Panorama tonight at 4:30 p.m.
