William Heater

 

William Francis Heater was born on November 20, 1942 in Jefferson, Iowa to Robert Lacy Heater and Vera Stella (Anschutz) Heater. Bill graduated from Rippey High School in 1961. On November 8, 1959 he was united in marriage to Dolores Caroline Rhoades. The couple was blessed with two sons Douglas and Mark, and a daughter Diane. Bill farmed the land for majority of his life. He also sold for Davis Seed Corn for over 20 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Rippey United Methodist Church. Bill served as the President of the school board in 1981. Dolores passed away on November 19, 1997. He was the #1 Hawkeye fan. Bill enjoyed gardening, going to the casino, fishing, collecting eagles and clocks. Bill found love again when he met Barb Gregg 8 years ago. They loved wintering down in Arizona. He was a big animal lover and had many pets over the years. Bill passed away on January 20, 2024 at the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Vera; wife Dolores; dog Princess Bella (September 2023); brother Lyle “Bobby” Heater; and brothers-in-law Jack Carlisle and Carl Killam. He will be dearly missed by his significant other Barb Gregg of Farnhamville, IA; sons Douglas Heater and his wife Gloria of Surprise, AZ and Mark Heater and his wife Peggy of Jefferson, IA; daughter Diane Carey and her husband Trevis of Rippey, IA; grandchildren: Chris Pernice and his wife Mindy, Matt Pernice, Jon Pernice, Eric Heater, Josh Heater and his wife Donna, Amanda Tourjee and her husband Stephen, Quincy Christine Carey and her fiancé Augusto Jata, Lacey Kay Clapp and her husband David, Fallon Caroline Heater, and Blake Heater; great-grandchildren: Eli, Greyson, Connor, Benjamin, Ocean, Ellie, Adelynn, Delilah, Lincoln, Kingston, and Hazel; sisters Donna Carlisle of Perry, IA and Kathleen Killam of East Moline, IL; sister-in-law Marilyn Heater of Ogden, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Visitation was held from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2024 with family present from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Hastings Funeral Home in Jefferson. Funeral Services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 26, 2024 also at the funeral home with burial in the Rippey Cemetery. Memorials for Mr. Heater may be sent to Hastings Funeral Home - P.O.
