William Gettler

William Charles Gettler Jr., 92, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Jefferson, passed away Oct. 21 at home.

Bill was born in Carroll on April 3, 1927, the son of William and Mary Gettler Sr. 

Bill married Lorraine Theckla Klocke on Jan. 20, 1948, and were blessed with five daughters and three sons.

He was a member of St. Joseph Church in Jefferson and All Saints Catholic Church in Mesa. Bill was in the Army. He farmed in the Audubon area, and most recently was a contractor in the Yale/Jefferson area. He semi-retired in 1981 and moved to Arizona.

Bill enjoyed camping, woodworking, playing cards, and his favorite was pinochle. He loved playing games with his grandchildren and cherished his entire family.

Bill is survived by his wife, Lorraine; children: Anita Downing, of Coon Rapids; Ellen (Denny) Olson, of Bagley; Steve (Nancy) Gettler, of Mesa; Cindy Daniels, of Mesa; Tim (Jeri) Gettler, of Jefferson; Linda (Allen) Anderton, of Mesa; Russ (Joyce) Gettler, of Mesa; and Trina (Roger) Zimmer, of Stratford; 18 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind numerous in-laws and friends. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Gettler; five brothers; three sisters; and three son-in-laws.
