Wayne Roger Lind, the son of Marie and Clemens Lind, was born June 26, 1928 in Dayton, Iowa and departed this life on March 7, 2018 at Regency Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Jefferson, Iowa. He lived his life to the age of 89 years. A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., April 27 at the Jefferson Community Golf Course in Jefferson. A private family graveside service will be held April 28 at the Jefferson Cemetery.
Wayne grew up in the town of Dayton, Iowa and married Mary Peterson in 1946 and they lived in Dayton and Clear Lake before settling in Gowrie in 1953. In this marriage, three children were born: Elizabeth, Michael and Judith. Elizabeth and Judith both died near child birth. The couple divorced in 1971 and Wayne moved to Jefferson. He married Betty Madson in 1972.
Wayne was a Korean war veteran who returned to start Lind Dairy with his brother Don, then worked for Anderson Erickson Dairy for 25 years, was a rep for Western Chemical, started Shadran Industrial & Sanitary Supply with Randy Monthei and lastly in 1997 he and Betty started WRL Enterprises representing many athletic goods lines well into his 80’s.
He enjoyed golfing, playing cards, traveling and spending time with family and friends, especially his golf group of Larry, Bill and Guy.
Wayne is survived by brother, Dick Lind of Badger; children, Mike (Karen) Lind of Roswell, Georgia; stepchildren: Cheri Delay, Bret Madson and Todd Madson all of Jefferson; grandchildren: Joseph Lind, Alex Lind, Luke (Christa) Lautner, Matt (Michelle) Lautner, Chance Lautner, Mitchell Madson and Ellie Madson; and great-grandchildren: Lilly, Greyson, Linus, Thatcher, Matilyn, Michael and Max Lautner. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and sister.
