Thomas Thomsen

Thomas G. Thomsen, 66, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday at a Sioux City hospital after being stricken at his home. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. March 6 at the Grace United Methodist Church.  Pastor Timothy Bonney will officiate. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery with a luncheon following at the church. Visitation will be from 4:00pm to 8:00pm Thursday at the Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. The family will be present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  

Tom was born in Jefferson, on Jan. 25, 1949.  He was the son of Ted and Betty (Wilbur) Thomsen.  He was raised on a farm in the Paton, Iowa area.  He attended the Paton-Churdan High School and graduated in 1967. He attended Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge for 2 years and then Morningside College for one. On November 27, 1970 he married Julie Scheuermann in Jefferson, Iowa. The couple moved to Sioux City in 1970 where they raised their family.  Tom worked at Lumberman Mill Works which later became Tri-State Mill Works.  He then worked at M C I for 10 years and also at the Pella Windows and Doors. He was working as a sales contractor for Menards at the time of his death.  He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.  He was most proud of his three grandsons Sam, Max, and Jamie and loved spending as much time with them as possible. With Sam he loved fishing, going to his band concerts and watching First Tech Challenge-Robotics. With Max he loved cheering on the Bandits and watching him play football and basketball. With Jamie he loved playing cars, counting and cuddling. Tom and Julie were known as Mr. and Mrs. Christmas for all their Christmas decorations inside and outside of their home.  He loved the outdoors especially working in his yard.  Tom also enjoyed watching the Hawkeyes, the Bulls, the Bears and the Cubs.

He is survived by his wife, Julie of Sioux City, his daughter and her husband, Jennifer and Tom Murphy and their sons, Sam and Max, all of Sioux City,  his son and his wife, Matthew and Julie Thomsen and their son, Jamie all of Sioux City, his sisters, Kathie Thomsen of Jefferson, Kris (Mike) Mc Pherson of Jefferson,his nieces and nephews, Mark (Tara) Thomsen, Tena (Doug) Gifford, Peter (Sara) Thomsen, Elizabeth (Tyson) Trunkhill, Molly (Jeff) Ritter, Bonnie (Mike) Silbaugh and many great nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and his grandson, Brady Thomsen.

He was loved so much and will be greatly missed by all.
