Thomas Patrick

Thomas Harmon Patrick, 70, of Jefferson passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Born on November 20, 1946 in Carroll, Iowa, he was the son of Thomas and Phoebe (Morehead) Patrick. Tom grew up in Ralston and graduated from Glidden–Ralston High School in 1965. Following high school, he attended a community college for two years before being drafted into the United States Army and serving in Vietnam for three years. After his military service, he returned to Jefferson and worked for Morton Buildings where he worked for 39 years. Tom lived with his life partner Dorothy Ann Snook for many years and the couple had two children, Thomas Daniel and Katie Marie.  Tom was an avid bird watcher and loved everything about birds including feeding and taking photos of them. He enjoyed fishing, watching the Green Bay Packers, playing Bingo and spending time with his family.

Tom is survived by his children, Thomas Daniel Patrick of Jefferson and Katie Marie Patrick and her fiancé Alexander Alan Kreps of Sherwood, Ark.; a grandchild on the way; a sister, Beverly Murphy (Larry) of Jefferson; and several nieces and nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents; his life partner, Dorothy Ann Snook in 2011; and a sister, Ila Jubell.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 2, 2016 at the United Methodist Church in Scranton with Rev. Joyce Webb officiating. Organist for the service will be Lula Garnes and soloist will be Bob Reck. Casket bearers will be Larry Teeples, Ron Teeples, Terry McCollom and Raymond Gregory. Burial will be in the Dillavou Cemetery near Scranton with military honors by the Iowa National Guard. Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Scranton from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 1, 2016. The casket will be moved to the church at 9:30 a.m. on Friday where visitation will resume until the time of service.
