Theodosia Graham

Theodosia Margaret (Howard) Graham, 105, of Grand Junction passed away Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Hawkeye Care Center in Carroll. She would have been 106 years old if she had lived a few more days.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 17 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Pastor Dave Hagen of Carroll First Assembly of God Church officiating. Pianist for the service will be John Van Horn and soloist will be Ashley Hagen. Casket bearers will be Theo’s family members and burial will be in the Grand Junction Cemetery near Grand Junction. Visitation will be held on Friday evening at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 5 to 7 p.m. and will resume at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday until the time of service.

Born December 11, 1910 on her parent’s farm three miles south of Grand Junction, Theodosia was the daughter of George McClellan and Elizabeth (Bistline) Howard. Theo, as she was known to most, was the youngest child in her family and had two sisters and five brothers.

During WWII, Theo met a handsome young sailor named Lloyd Graham who was stationed near Los Angeles, Calif. Theo and Lloyd were married in 1944 and were never blessed with any children.  They were married for 50 years when Lloyd passed away in 1994. After Lloyd’s passing, Theo moved back to Iowa and lived at Sunnybrook Assisted Living in Carroll and later moved to Hawkeye Care Center.  

Theo is survived by her nephew, Bob Van Horn of Glidden; four nieces: Jean Cavanaugh of Great Bend, Kan., Joan Lindsey of Houston, Texas, Lillian Howard of Paton, Iowa and Fabian Howard of Georgia; and many other distant relatives. Theo was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lloyd; two sisters; five brothers; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
