Steven Langfitt

Steven Keith Langfitt’s life was celebrated Thursday, January 17, 2019 form 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Hastings Funeral Home in Jefferson. Honorary bearers were: Chuck Coover, Mitch Langfitt, Karlan Langfitt , Kurtis Langfitt, Dub Dillavou, Pat Doepp, Bill Annear, Allen Annear, Tim Pittman, J. R. Langfitt and Matt Hilebaugh. Interment took place at Junction Township Cemetery in Grand Junction.

Steven Keith Langfitt, son of Keith Lloyd Langfitt and Shirley Ann Hidlebaugh Langfitt, was born January 1, 1960 in Spokane, Washington.  Steven died at his home December 31, 2018, following a lengthy illness just one day shy of his 59th birthday.

Steven’s father was in the U.S. Air Force and the family moved several times, following his career.  The family ultimately moved to Iowa and Steven lived in Greene County most of his life.  While a student at East Greene he enjoyed playing football in Junior High and basketball in High School.  Steven worked for various farmers, baling hay, walking beans and other farming jobs.  He lived for a time in Lake City. 

Steve was an independent man who enjoyed being his own person and pursuing his many hobbies.  He had an enormous collection of all types of music, recorded in various formats.  He secured some of his favorites even from overseas.  Steve loved Drag Racing, Indy cars and NASCAR.  He has a fabulous collection of cars, model kits and various racing memorabilia. Steve was a big fan of many sports, but especially loved the Iowa State Cyclone football and basketball teams and the NFL, Cincinnati Bengal Football team. 

Through the years he cared for his grandmother Hazel Langfitt.

Steven was preceded in death by his father Keith Langfitt, step father Victor Border, grandparents Mildred Cloe Hidlebaugh, Hazel and Lloyd Langfitt and great uncle Orlin Langfitt and his wife Wilma.  Steven will be deeply missed by his mother Shirley Langfitt Border of Ft. Dodge; his brothers Bryan Keith Langfitt (Vicki Dillavou) of Grand Junction; and Bradley Keith Langfitt of Dana; Brad’s children Kristen Langfitt (Nathan Zollars); Karlan Langfitt and Kurtis Langfitt; great niece Peyton Langfitt; aunt Elsina Faber Sieck; cousins, other relatives and  friends.
