It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Shirley Anne Quick, age 81, our loving mother and a friend to all whose lives she touched.
Shirley lived at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. She passed away peacefully on Dec. 3 surrounded by family.
Cremation rights have been given and burial will be at a later date at the Junction Twp. Cemetery, rural Grand Junction.
Shirley was born on July 25, 1938, in Lynch, Neb., the daughter of William and Rose (Zakrzewski) Podany.
Beloved wife of Donald Quick, they united in marriage on June 2, 1956. Don and Shirley resided in Jefferson for over 20 years before moving to Marshalltown in 2011.
Shirley had held several part-time positions but always loved being a homemaker. At St. Joseph’s she was active in the lay ministry and helping the elderly. She enjoyed socializing with friends and loved her coffee.
Surviving is her husband, Don; two sons: Michael and Russell; grandchildren: Zachary, Abbygail, Hunter Mathieu, Elizabeth (Edgar) Corral; three sisters: MaryLou (Harold) Fernau, Rosemary (Ken) Porter and the late Lucy (Marlin) Quaring.
Celebration of Shirley’s life will occur next year when the weather is sunny and warm at a time and place to be announced.
