Roger Allen Burnie, Sr.

Roger Allen Burnie, Sr, of Cooper, was born May 17, 1963 in Massachusetts. He was the son of Eldon Burnie, Sr. and Marsha (Baumgartner) Burnie. 

On Nov. 17, 1985, Roger married Cheryl Tallent. They had a son together and later divorced. Roger worked in several jobs, including being a mail carrier and concrete truck driver.  He spent many weekends at the flea market. He enjoyed spending time with his family and watching NASCAR races.

Roger passed away at his son’s home on April 25, 2022, at the age of 58 years. He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Survivors include his son, Roger (Amelia) Burnie, Jr.; grandchildren: Joanna Burnie, Collin (fiancé, Dharyan) Kennedy, Shanna Kennedy, Keegan Kennedy;  great-grandson, Emmett Kennedy;  sister, Dorothy Burnie; brothers: Jim Burnie and Ben Burnie; half-sister, Cathy Burnie; half-brother Eldon Burnie, Jr; many friends and other “family”.

Memorials should be directed to the family. Visitation was held Sunday, May 1 at Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home. The memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 1.
