Richard Beaman
Richard Beaman, 70, of Jefferson, passed away on Feb.16 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.
Richard Lloyd Beaman was born November 29, 1943 in Stuart to Lloyd Beaman and Arlene Hein. He grew up in Stuart and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1962.
On August 12, 1963, in Omaha, Nebraska, Richard enlisted into the United States Navy. He was stationed in various places including San Diego, California and Great Lakes, Illinois. On August 11, 1967, he was honorably discharged from the United States Navy.
On August 16, 1974 Richard was united in marriage to Rose Mary Bartley in Jackson, Minnesota. They were the parents of two children: Scott and Kelly. They made their home in Jefferson. Richard worked as a mechanic and stayed busy keeping up with two boys.
Through the years, Richard worked for F & D Construction Gravel Company, Hallet Materials Gravel Company and Greene County Secondary Roads. He worked 19 years with the Iowa DOT. He also had a cow-calf herd, and raised other farm animals. Richard had a love for the outdoors, whether he was riding his motorcycle or watching the eagles.
Richard is survived by his sons: Scott Beaman (Nanette Smith) of Paton, and Kelly Beaman (Lisa Vickers) of Jefferson; his girlfriend Judy Wilson; sisters: Beverly Handy (Bill) of Missouri, Paulette McClease (Grant) of Missouri; brothers: Randy Adams of Wyoming and Mike Adams (Doris) of Missouri; sisters-in-law: Marvel Newell of Jefferson, Frankey Anderson (Jim) of Jefferson and Arlis Bartley of Jefferson; brothers-in-law: Paul Bartley (Joy) of Boone and Dick Leedom of Jefferson; six grandchildren: Aaron, Katherine, Trevor, Wyatt, Jessica and Kelsey; and one great-granddaughter: Emma Rose; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Rose on June 4, 2007.
A Service of Remebrance was held at 10:30 a.m. on Feb. 20 at the Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson. Words of comfort were by Pastor Steve Ransom of the First United Methodist Church of Grand Junction. Recorded music was Seminole Wind by John Anderson and My Way by Frank Sinatra. Interment took place at the Jefferson Cemetery with Military Rites by the Floyd Brown American Legion Post #11, Jefferson V.F.W. Post #9599 and the United States Navy Honor Guard.
Honorary Bearers were Jerry Dean Denhardt, Russ Hoffman, Jerry Spaulding, Jim Case, Dennis Moranville, Dennis Murphy, Frank Kozal, Randy Fox and Kevin Bauer.
