Raymond E. Wilson “Breezy,” 74, passed away Friday, July 6, 2018 at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 11 at First United Church in Farnhamville with Rev. Dr. James Chestnutt officiating. Burial was in Reading Township Cemetery in Farnhamville. Friends called from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 10 at Palmer Funeral home in Gowrie. Additional visitation took place at 9 a.m. Wednesday until the time of service.
Raymond Emrick Wilson was born June 12, 1944 in Jefferson, Iowa. He graduated from Paton High School with the Class of 1962. Following his education, Ray worked various jobs in the Gowrie area. He first worked for Lizer Sale Barn, then Lee Benson Chevrolet and then Standard Engineering in Fort Dodge.
On August 20, 1966, he was united in marriage to Jane Heflin at Paton United Methodist Church. The couple made their home in Gowrie. In 1974, they moved to Farnhamville. Ray worked at the Webster City Stock Yards until 1982, when he started buying cattle on his own.
He was a member of the First United Church, Farnhamville, and the Calhoun County Cattlemen’s. He was an avid supporter and alumni of the FFA.
He is survived by his wife, Jane; daughters, Mary Jo (Alan) Klein of Evansville, Wisconsin and Brenda Kromrie (Robert Young) of Gowrie; four grandchildren: Adam and Jason Klein, Maureen and Blake Kromrie (Kylee Albee) and Kylan Muzney (Sammi Lura); two great-grandchildren, Payton and Taytum Kromrie; brothers, Rex (Virginia) Wilson of Paton and Roger (Dorena) Wilson of Jefferson; and sisters-in-law, Ellen Wilson of Webster City and Judy Wilson of Paton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Nadine (Metzger) Wilson; infant sister, Victoria Wilson; brothers: Robert, Richard and Russell Wilson; and sister-in-law, Lois Wilson.
Memorials may be left to family discretion.
