Phyllis Ann Cody, daughter of Edward “Ned” Cody and Margaret Elizabeth Crandell Cody, was born July 20, 1937. Phyllis attended school in Grand Junction, Iowa. She later lived in the Jefferson, Iowa area and then lived and worked at Genesis Development for several years. Phyllis suffered an accident and moved to the Long Term Care Unit of Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson. After two years she improved so that she could live more independently, but under the loving care of New Hope Village in Glidden, Iowa.
Phyllis enjoyed visiting, doing crafts and working word puzzles. She enjoyed watching “oldies” movies on television. In the remaining years she had found comfort from her friends at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in Jefferson. Phyllis recently had the awesome experience of holding two newborns at church.
She developed pneumonia and died Saturday, November 10, 2018 in the Intensive Care Unit of St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll at the age of 81.
Phyllis is survived by her brother, Dennis Cody of Winterset; cousins: Catherine Cody of Des Moines, Donna Vargas of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Eileen Mitchell of Seattle, Washington, Sid Winchell of Atlantic, Janice Kersey (Don) and Pat Burk (Duane) all of Des Moines, Sharon Comer, Susan Juhl (Wayne), Joel Cody and John Cody all of Grand Junction; other relatives; her church and New Hope families and other friends.
Viewing and visitation was held at 1 p.m. Monday November 19, 2018 at Hastings Funeral Home in Jefferson followed by a graveside service held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery at Grand Junction. Phyllis was buried with her family there.
