Onna Lautner

Onna Morgan Lautner, 35, of Orlando, Florida, formerly of Jefferson, passed away on Monday, September 11, 2017 at VITAS Inpatient Hospice Unit in Winter Garden, Fla.

Onna was born February 27, 1982 in Korea. On November 29, 1982 she came to the U.S. and was adopted by her parents, Dennis and Jan (Caputo) Lautner. Her three year old, big brother Dax hugged his baby sister, telling her, “I love you Onna Morgan Lautner, and now you can go to the sale barn with us!” Checking out the stock at the sale barn on Fridays was what Dax loved to do, and he wanted his sister to be in on the fun!

Onna attended elementary school in Jefferson and moved to Florida in 1990. She graduated from Gainesville High School in 2000 and went on to study at the University of Florida. She also attended Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Orlando.

Onna loved cooking with a passion, preparing holiday feasts for her family, entertaining her friends and baking cookies for her nieces and nephew. She enjoyed being employed as a chef at many upscale Florida restaurants, most recently at the exquisite Pharmacy in Orlando.

“Though she be but little, she is fierce!” Onna was petite, beautiful and she was never afraid to be heard. She knew how to put a smile on everyone’s face and was the kindest soul. She was a good listener and a wonderful friend to many. She was known for her shiny, long, black hair, she loved to sing and dance (She knew all the words - in Spanish - to “La Bamba” at the age of three) and was often the life of the party. She will be missed by the many hearts she touched, more than she ever could have known.

Onna is survived by her parents, Denny Lautner of Jefferson and Jan Brush (Carl) of Yankton, S.D.; her brother, Dax (Nicole) Lautner of Jefferson; step-sisters, Janell Brush of Fort White, Fla. and Julie Brush (Iran Johnson) of Portland, Ore.; nieces: Paisley, Stella and Rieslyn Lautner and nephew, Tuck Lautner, all of Jefferson; niece, Agathe Bird of Portland, Ore.; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Walter and Frances Lautner of Jefferson and John and Norma “Doodle” Caputo of Conrad.

Memorial services will be held at a later date, and memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
