Martha Fister

Martha Fister died March 20, 2017 at Regency Park Nursing & Rehab Center in Jefferson, Iowa at the age of 96 years.

A graveside service was held Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Scranton Township Cemetery in Scranton, Iowa. Words of comfort were provided by her nephew, Tim Robbins. Visitation was held Wednesday, March 22 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home in Jefferson.

Martha Mae (Robbins) Fister was born January 27, 1921 in Faulkton, South Dakota to Ethwell Charles and Lottie (Wischmeyer) Robbins. She attended country school near Onaka, South Dakota thru the 8th grade. She moved to a farm near Paton, Iowa with her family in 1934 and graduated from Paton High School in 1939.

Martha married George Ray Fister on August 23, 1941 at Fall City, Nebraska. She was a secretary at the United Methodist Church in Ogden, Iowa for 15 years and also helped with the farm work.

Martha was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ogden, Iowa as well as Eloy and Casa Grande, Arizona. She had been a member of First United Methodist Church in Jefferson since 2011.

Martha was preceded in death by her husband, George; her parents; 1 sister; 4 brothers; 1 niece and 1 nephew. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
