Maria Cristina Ghirardelli Lynch

Maria Cristina Ghirardelli Lynch, 67, of Evansville, Indiana passed away Thursday, October 4, 2018 at her home.

Maria was born in Montevideo, Uruguay on April 21, 1951 to the late Alfredo Ghirardelli Camiruaga and María Elida González Fruniz. Maria graduated from Deutsche Schule German in Montevideo.  She was a foreign exchange student at Jefferson Community High School in Jefferson, Iowa in 1970. Maria earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Oakland City University. She was a management secretary with Whirlpool for over 20 years. Later, Maria worked as a real estate agent and with Indiana Child Services as a translator. She belonged to the Catholic Daughters and was a wonderful cook who enjoyed spending time with her Italian Club. Maria was an advocate for Hispanic Community in Southern Indiana.

Maria is survived by her husband of 40 years, Tom Lynch of Evansville, Ind.; daughter, Stephanie Lynch Poletti (Phil) of St. Louis, Mo.; sister, Graciela María Ghirardelli González; brother, Alfredo Eduardo Ghirardelli González (Silvia María Giuria Barbot); sisters-in-law, Nancy Scheffers (Dan) and Mary Figenshaw (Bill); nieces: María Leticia Moreira Ghirardelli (Daniel Alejandro Giambroni Brian), María Lia Ghirardelli Giuria (Washington Salaberry Pazos), Lucía María Ghirardelli Giuria and Lisa Wilkins (Dean); nephews: Alfredo Carlos Ghirardelli Giuria (María Margarita de Loy Etchavarría), Scott Albright (Mako), Tim Figenshaw (Holly) and Steve Figenshaw; six great nieces and six great nephews.

Maria was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law, Thomas G. Lynch; mother-in-law, Fern Leota Lynch; step mother-in-law, Thelma Lynch; and brother-in-law, Carlos Efraín Moreira González.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 12, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Fr. Chris Forler celebrating. A visitation and graveside service were held Monday, October 15 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Jefferson with burial at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Jefferson with Father Jim Bruch officiating. Casket bearers were Bill Figenshaw, Dan Scheffers, Steve Figenshaw, Tim Figenshaw, Scott Albright and Dean Wilkins.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

Brown Funeral Home assisted the family.
