Luerettia Sullivan

Luerettia May Sullivan, daughter of Jacob Lentz and Velta Lentz Roberts, was born October 4, 1927 in Grand River, Iowa and died July 24, 2018 at her home in Jefferson at the age of 90.

On June 9, 1945 Luerettia married Farrell Sullivan. They shared 63 years together until his death in 2008.

Luerettia was one of nine children. She spent most of her childhood in Lineville, Iowa. Once she left Lineville she worked in the ammunition plant in Ankeny during WWII where she met Farrell during one of his visits to the plant while he was in the service. They met and fell in love and married. They then became proud parents of three amazing children.

Luerettia worked at various jobs including the Howard Theater, several restaurants around Jefferson, Chicago Rivet and WCI until her retirement.

She loved to plant green beans for her family to enjoy. She loved visiting with family and friends, going out to eat, car rides and shopping when she could. Luerettia and Farrell enjoyed many years of vacationing at their home in Bella Vista, Arkansas.

Luerettia was a member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and appreciated the ladies that would bring her communion every week.

Luerettia was preceded in death by her husband, Farrell; her parents; one brother in infancy; and one brother, Morris; five brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law.

Survivors include daughters, Eleanor (David) Molle of Glidden and Connie Fagen of Jefferson; and son, Gene (Virginia) Sullivan of Jefferson; three grandchildren: Mark (Stacy) Molle of Marvin, S.D., Mike Molle of Glidden and Tracy (Daniel) Jessen of Baxter; five great-grandchildren: Jesse and Amanda Helt of Sioux City, Heather and Holly Jessen of Baxter, Maxwell Molle of Glidden and Jackie Molle of Marvin, S.D.; three brothers: Dean (Lois) Lentz of Jefferson, Carl Lentz of Lineville and Donnie (Virginia) Lentz of Lineville; three sisters: Mary Lou Kitto of Lineville, Susie Bennett of Conroe, Texas and Leota Merkel of Plainview, Neb.; sisters-in-law, Elaine Wiggins of Jefferson and Pauline Sullivan of California; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mass of the Resurrection was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 30 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jefferson, Iowa. Mass was celebrated by Father John Gerald. The Lector was Sue Wind. Janet Sabus was the eucharistic minister and Alex Roberts and Brayden Roberts were altar servers. Honorary bearers were Tracy Jessen, Heather Jessen, Holly Jessen, Amanda Helt and Jackie Molle. Casket bearers were Jesse Helt, Mike Molle, Dan Jessen, Mark Molle, Maxwell Molle and Kevin Lentz. Amy Roberts was the soloist accompanied by Lois Last. Interment was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Jefferson.
