Linda Foster

Linda Foster, 77, of Jefferson, passed away Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Israel Family Hospice House, Ames, Iowa. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 7 at Windsor Christian Church in Windsor, Illinois. Interment will be in the Windsor Cemetery. At a later date, the family will host a time of remembrance in Jefferson, Iowa.

Linda Kay Foster was born February 19, 1940 in Windsor, Illinois. She was the youngest of eight children born to Jennie (Ranard) and Rush Neal. Linda lived part of her growing-up years with her Aunt Ruth and Uncle Carl Cooper in Windsor, Ill.

Linda graduated from Eastern Illinois University. She traveled the world and taught school in several locations including Illinois, California, Nevada, Newfoundland and Germany. She also taught at a Navaho Indian Reservation in New Mexico. Through the years, she earned her master’s degree and continued her education, by working towards a doctorate degree. Pursuing higher education was her passion.

On December 24, 1998, Linda was married to Paul Foster at Lake Tahoe, Nevada. After their marriage, they moved to Illinois and Linda taught at Manteno, Ill. When Linda retired from her career as a teacher and guidance counselor, she and Paul moved to Oklahoma where they enjoyed cattle ranching. Eventually they moved to Jefferson, Iowa where they have lived for the last several years.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her aunt and uncle, Ruth and Carl Cooper; and five of her siblings.

Survivors include her husband, Paul Foster, of Jefferson; a sister, Ruth; a brother, Carl; and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are Bruce Lipes, Jr, John Charles Lipes and Hillary Bunch; Jay Foster, Paul Foster III and Lori Kay Weber; and Rev. Dan Lockett, all who held a special place in Linda’s life.

Memorials are suggested to Israel Family Hospice House, and may be mailed to Paul Foster, 1308 Riverside Drive, Jefferson, IA 50129.
