Leo Schoonover

Leo Schoonover, 88 of Waverly, Iowa, died Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Shell Rock Health Care Center.

Leo was born March 19, 1930 in Clear Lake, Iowa, the son of Leo and Hulda (Meswarb) Schoonover. He was united in marriage to Gwen Lucas on September 25, 1955 in Nashua, Iowa. Leo retired from Schield-Bantam in Waverly in May of 1992, after 42 years. In his spare time, Leo enjoyed metal crafting.

Leo is survived by his wife, Gwen Schoonover of Waverly; a daughter, Lee Anna (David) Ausberger of Jefferson; a son, David (Marilyn) Schoonover of Exeland, Wisconsin; and six grandchildren: Michael, Sarah and Leah Schoonover and Lucas, Sophia and Nathan Ausberger. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Schoonover and a sister, Mavis Schiller.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 17 at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly with Pastor Rick Burns officiating. Burial was held in Harlington Cemetery in Waverly. Visitation was held one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the funeral home.
