Lawrence Linquist

Lawrence E. Linquist, age 88, of Sac City passed away on Monday, July 27, 2015 at Blackhawk Life Care Center in Lake View.

Born on September 17, 1926 south of Lytton in Cedar Township, he was the son of Ed and Matilda (Kreft) Linquist. He grew up in the Lytton – Rockwell City area and attended country school as a boy.  He was baptized on October 24, 1926 at St. Peter Lutheran Church near Lytton and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith at Emanuel St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lytton. He loved to play baseball in school tournaments while growing up. He was drafted into the United States Army at age 19 and served during the end of WW II  He was married to Doneta Eason on April 22, 1956 at the Friends Church in Kindrick Township near Scranton. The couple made their home on a farm northwest of Lytton. He was a member of Emanuel St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lytton.  He was also a member of Farm Bureau and the Iowa Milking Short Horn Association in his younger farming years.  Lawrence was a farmer at heart and farming was his passion.  He dearly loved his family and loved to spend time with his grandchildren.

Lawrence is survived by his wife Doneta of 59 years of Sac City; a son Ricky Linquist and his wife Laurel of Fonda; two daughters: Rhonda Remillard and her husband Loren of Spencer and Amy Lorenzen and her fiancé Randy Healey of Denison; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a sister Ann Galbraith and her husband

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on July 31, at Emanuel St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lytton with Pastor Ben Worley officiating. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to the funeral service.
Organist for the service will be Candace Booth and soloist will be Dennis Hinrichs.
Burial will be in the Cedar Township Cemetery. The flower committee will be Details Flowers Etc. of Sac City. Casket bearers will be Dr. Kurt VanHulzen, Steve Lohff, Ryan Wheelock, Randy Scharn, Scott Hunziker, and Gary Langbein.  Honorary Casket Bearers are Ivan and Mollie Hunziker, Jim and Ann Galbraith, Mary and Darwin Matter.
