Larry Blackburn

Larry David Blackburn was born March 11, 1946, to Marjorie (Miller) and Darrell Blackburn in Jefferson, Iowa. He died of bladder cancer on March 16, 2017 at the Hospice House in Ames, Iowa.

Larry grew up in Jefferson and married Betty Jo Wright in Jefferson on September 7th, 1965. Larry served his country in Vietnam in the U.S. Navy. Larry was the father of four girls: Teresa (Ron) Bentz, Tamara, Jenifer (Jeremy) Clipperton and Penny (Bobby) Platter. Larry was the grandfather to Alexandra, Cody, Taylor, Julie and Chase.

A time of fellowship with Larry’s family and friends will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, April 1, 2017, at the Greene County Community Center, 204 W. Harrison St., Jefferson, Iowa. The family requests in lieu of flowers and plants that memorials may be sent to Betty Blackburn, 602 W. Adams, Jefferson, Iowa, 50129.
