Karen Robinson

A service for Karen Ellen Robinson was held 10:00 a.m. Dec. 27 at Hastings Funeral Home in Jefferson. Visitation was after 1:00 p.m. on Dec. 26 with family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Bob McKnight of the First Baptist Church in Jefferson provided words of comfort.

Honorary casket bearers were: Jimmy Spaulding, Les Johns, Kelly Beamen, Jim Taylor, John Belts, Jeff Stofer and Kent Dzuris. Recorded music selected was: When I Get Where I’m Going by Brad Paisley, Get Me A Ride Back Home by John Mellenkamp and I Hope You Dance by LeAnn Womack. Immediately following the service was a luncheon at the First Baptist Church. Interment will take place at a later date in the Dawson Township Cemetery in Paton, Iowa.

Karen Ellen Robinson, daughter of John Alvin Clingan and Elsie Mae Armstrong Clingan, was born February 23, 1936 in Paton, Iowa and died December 23, 2014 at her home in Jefferson, Iowa at the age of 78. The day Karen was born there was a terrible snow storm so her mother rode a bobsled to the nearest hospital to give birth. She moved to Jefferson when she was in the sixth grade and lived there from then on.

Karen and Carl Robinson were united in marriage on February 7, 1954 and the couple was blessed with four children Carla, Blane, John and Greg. After Carl left Karen raised her four children all by herself. She worked at Gene’s Lounge, and then started cleaning houses for numerous people. Karen enjoyed cooking, reading, watching TV, listening to country music, gardening and garage sales for dishes and vacuums. She loved to talk and visit with others; she would call her friends every day.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, sister Juanita Beebe and brother Dale Clingan. Karen is survived by her children: Carla Robinson of Jefferson, Blane Robinson (Teresa Tipton) of Jefferson, John Robinson (Althea) of Jefferson, and Greg Robinson (Tammy) of Grimes; three grandchildren: April Koller, Kimberly Johns and Todd Robinson; four great-grandchildren: Jaden Koller, Gracie Johns, Eric Johns and Cody Johns; nieces & nephews: Tony Clingan (Paula), Mark Clingan (Kathryn), Evertt Beebe (Bert), Rose McDonald (Richard); other relatives and many friends.
