Jimmy Cummings

Jimmy L. Cummings, 75, of Roca, died Sept. 25 surrounded by his family. Mr. Cummings was born July 16, 1939 to Roland & Irma (Baker) Cummings in Grand Junction.

Jim worked for Farmland as a Grain Terminal Employee and provided traveling elevator maintenance. He was united in marriage April 10, 1965 to Diane Kubik in Hickman, NE. Jim was a lifelong member of Hickman Presbyterian Church, an avid fisherman and card player. He dearly loved his family, especially his grandchildren. Jim loved the country and spending time outdoors.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Diane of Roca; children Jamille (Greg) Leiker of Lincoln, Jill (Travis) Birkett, Leigh (Jerry) Vrbka all of Cortland; sister, Janice Krause of Jefferson; grandchildren, Shelby, Isaac, Myah, Kallie & Brayten; sisters-in-law, Delores McGinnis, Shari Kubik; brother-in-law, Larry Kubik and special friend, Teresa Stephens;
many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert, Harold & Larry; sisters, Doris & Betty Moranville; brothers-in-law, Jerry McGinnis & Gerald Kubik; sister-in-law, Louise Kubik, Jean (Fritz) Oelling.

A Celebration of Jimmy’s Life was 11:00 a.m. on Sept. 29 at the Hickman Presbyterian Church. Rev. Dr. Alan Brehm will officiate.

Inurnment will be PRIVATE in the Hickman Presbyterian Cemetery.

At the request of the Cummings family there will be no public viewing/visitation as Jimmy’s wishes were for cremation. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Hickman Presbyterian Church.
