Jeffery Lentz

Our beloved son, father, grandfather, brother, nephew, cousin and friend, Jeffery Dean Lentz, returned to his Heavenly Father on March 16, 2022 at the age of 62 with his son Adam at his side. Jeff’s family and friends will miss his loving presence in their lives but rejoice knowing he is in peace and resting as the good and faithful servant he was.

Jeff was born on May 26, 1959 to Earl Dean Lentz and Lois Darlene (Walker) Lentz in Jefferson. After Jeff graduated from Jefferson High School in 1977, he went to work at Electrolux Corporation in Jefferson. Jeff worked for Electrolux for 30 years until the plant closed in 2010.

After the Electrolux plant closed, Jeff was plagued with several health issues, including surgeries on both shoulders, heart problems, and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. After bravely enduring treatments, Jeff finally succumbed to complications from liver disease.

Jeff had three loves in his life: Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior; his family; and being outdoors, especially with his sons and his hunting dogs. Jeff’s faith in Jesus Christ sustained him during his health issues. He had a special affinity for Saint Michael and loved to read the Bible and listen to sermons.

Jeff’s two sons, Jacob and Adam, were his pride and joy. He was so very proud of them and the families that they created. He often spoke of his oldest son Jake’s hunting and fishing skills and was proud of the man that he became. He loved daughter-in-law Sarah and was so happy and proud that she was going to nursing school. Jeff will rejoice in heaven when she graduates.

And Jeff loved his son Adam and daughter-in-law Coleen. He was so proud of the life and family that they created for themselves. He talked often about Adam and Coleen’s life in Illinois, their careers, and their growing family. He was so proud that Adam took an interest in blacksmithing, like Jeff’s Grandpa Jake. He also loved Coleen’s crafts and proudly displayed them. And every October he was always anxious to see their famous Halloween decorations.

Most of all, Jeff loved his grandchildren; Justin and Brianna (Jake and Sarah), and Aubrey, Logan, and Magnus (Adam and Coleen). He loved to be with them and hear about every detail of their lives. He was so very proud of them and will continue to rejoice in Heaven at their every success.

Finally, Jeff loved his parents and his sister. Jeff took excellent care of Dean and Lois despite his health issues. And his adopted daughter Riann, her husband Matt, and their children Kylie and Kaitlen were always very special to him.

Jeff found peace when being out in nature. He loved hunting and fishing and being with his dogs Mandy, Starbuck, River Dan, and Luke. Jeff especially loved being on the family farm in Lineville where his father grew up and where his Uncle Donnie and Aunt Virginia now reside.

Jeff was preceded in death by his daughter Riann Behm; grandparents Loren and Eva Walker, Jacob and Mable Lentz, and Velta (Lentz) and Bob Roberts; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is survived by son Jacob, his wife Sarah, and their children Justin and Brianna; son Adam, his wife Coleen, and their children Aubrey, Logan, and Magnus; son-in-law Matt Behm and his children Kylie and Kaitlin; his parents Dean and Lois Lentz; his sister Linda (David) Hocke; his uncle Donnie (Virginia) Lentz, aunts Dolores Walker, Mary Kitto, and Violet (Susie) Bennet; and many cousins and friends.

A graveside service was held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 19 at the Jefferson Cemetery in Jefferson. Pastor Tom Hinote officiated.
