Jean Sevde

Jean Sevde, 87, of Omaha, Nebraska passed away on Friday, April 28, 2017 at Omaha Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Omaha.

Funeral services were held Monday, May 8 at First United Methodist Church in Scranton with Rev. Joyce Webb officiating. Organist for the service was Lula Garnes. Burial was in the Jefferson Cemetery. Visitation was held Sunday at Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Scranton. The casket was moved to the Scranton United Methodist Church at 12:30 p.m. on Monday where visitation resumed until the time of service.       

Born Jean LaRean Brown on January 9, 1930 in Greene County, Iowa, she was the daughter of Roy Ellsworth and Agnes (Rabuck) Brown. Jean grew up on a farm near Scranton, graduated from Scranton High School and attended business school in Omaha. She married Lester Sevde on November 27, 1949 in Jefferson, Iowa. They had three children: Sarah (Loeffler), Sandra (Schulte) and Scott Sevde. They farmed their entire life near Scranton. Jean enjoyed farming and gardening and time with her family.

Jean is survived by her daughters, Sarah of Marco Island, Florida and Sandra of Omaha, Nebraska; ten grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. Jean is also survived by one sister, Lois Meriam of San Juan Capistrano, California.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester; son, Scott; four brothers and three sisters.
