James Ehmen

James Ray Sumner Ehmen was born February 7, 1952 in La Prairie, Illinois to Dale and Meveline (Heinecke) Ehmen and departed this life November 23, 2018 at his home in rural Jefferson, Iowa. 

Jim graduated from high school and later attended Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. In August of 1977, James Ehmen was united in marriage to Charity Sumner in Waverly. Two children were born to this union, Jennifer and Jonathan. Jim and Charity lived in Jefferson, Iowa since 1992. 

Jim loved to play the guitar and sing. He was an active member of the G.O.P. and was co-chairman of the Greene Co. Republicans. He loved his family and was so proud to be a grand daddy. He enjoyed golf and keeping his green yard.  

Jim is survived by his wife, Charity; daughter, Jennifer Ehmen of Colorado; son, Jonathan Ehmen of California; granddaughter, Juniper Peffer; and brother and sister, Larry Ehmen and Patricia White, both of Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents. 

A time of remembrance of Jim’s life and visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, November 29 at the Greene Co. Rec Center in Jefferson.
