A graveside funeral service for Herbert Drachenberg, 88, of Jefferson, Iowa will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 3, 2018 at the Jefferson Cemetery. Pastor Dennis Martins of Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson will officiate.
Herbert was born November 6, 1929 in Bristol, Connecticut, the second of four children of Emily and Robert Drachenberg, three of whom preceded him in death. Herbert graduated from Concordia Lutheran Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri in 1955, and later received a Master of Sacred Theology also from Concordia.
He married Patricia Daniels of Kansas City, Missouri in 1956. Herbert served his Lord God as a minister in the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod at many congregations in Ohio and Wisconsin, preaching and teaching both deaf and hearing congregations. Herbert and Patricia, also deceased, were blessed with three children whom they raised to love and honor their Lord Jesus Christ. Herbert’s devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him throughout his life and now gives him peace in the arms of his Creator and Savior.
Herbert Drachenberg returned to his heavenly home on October 17, 2018. He is survived by children: Diane (Kevin) Gooch of Jefferson, Trisha (Dan) Easton of Bagley, Iowa and Richard (Jill) Drachenberg of Marietta, Georgia. Also surviving are grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Christopher (Andrea) Masciocchi and their sons, Landon and Nathan of Greencastle, Pennsylvania; Daniel Masciocchi of Westminster, Maryland; Elizabeth (Scott) Graham and their children: Patrick, William, Ada and Scarlett of Jefferson; and Amalia Easton of Ankeny, Iowa.
