Hazel Viola (Kelley) Herrick, 92, passed away on Jan. 10, at peace and in comfort, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.
Hazel was born on October 9, 1921, on a farm north of Jefferson to Elmer and Fannie Chaney Kelley. She graduated from Dana High School, and was united in marriage to Victor R. Herrick on February 9, 1940. Together they had their family, made their home and farmed in Boone Co. until moving back to her home farm north of Jefferson where she lived for 36 years, with the last 3 years being in the GCMC Long Term Care.
She will be sadly missed by her two daughters; Karen Vetter (Carl) of Alleman, and Julie Safly (Jack) of Ankeny; her daughter-in-law Diane Herrick of Boone; Nine grandchildren; Nine great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Victor; two sons, Eugene and Roger; two brothers, Alvin Kelley and J.R. Kelley; and two sisters, Alta DeMoss and Olive Kiner.
