Frankey Jo Anderson

Frankey Jo Anderson, daughter of Frank and Josephine (Quirk) Bartley was born Sept. 14, 1944 in Jefferson. Frankey passed away in her family home, surrounded by her daughters, Wednesday, March 23, 2022.

Frankey graduated from Jefferson High School. Frankey worked at McAtee Tire for years with her sisters, the redemption with Rosemary, the Vet clinic and at the Electrolux factory for many years before retiring to be a homemaker. She worked at the Jefferson Elevator seasonally where she loved talking to all of her farmers.

Frankey has three children from her first marriage: Rodney, Carrie and Tracy. In 1973, Frankey found the love of her life, Jim Anderson. They married May 3, 1984. Jim and Frankey traveled the US attending horse sales and many Saturday nights taking their kids to horse shows and rodeos. Frankey had a love for Willie Nelson and couldn’t wait to share the pictures she would get from him in the mail and tell the stories of meeting him while out drinking and dancing.

You could always find Frankey and her sisters, “The Golden Girls” playing cards late into the evening. It was no surprise when you came; you were welcome to join in. The grandkids learned quickly that Grandma didn’t pick favorites when it came to cards. You play it right or you lose.

Frankey enjoyed visiting the casino and gambling. She was able to go for one last “poke” last week with her brother, Paul. Sometimes she even struck it big (her winnings were in the walls…right Abby?).

Frankey was a great cook and baker. Her family will miss her fried chicken and mashed potatoes, beef/chicken and noodles, brownies…and many of you have had her potato salad. We will never know how to make it the same and miss it at every gathering. Best part growing up is Frankey never ate her left overs so you would often get a text or a phone call telling you to come get the food (and we all did…without hesitation).

Frankey welcomed everyone into her life with open arms. It did not matter if you were related or not, if you were a friend of hers, a friend of her children or a friend of her grandchildren you forever had a place in her heart and in her home. She loved fiercely and with all of her.

Frankey lived life to the fullest. Frankey was a strong courageous woman who knew her health was declining but her determination showed us all that the love of family like she had will always win. Frankey loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren more than we can even begin to tell you. When Frankey found out her granddaughter was expecting her first child in June 2021 and the doctors told Frankey in August 2021 that she might not make it to February to meet her new grandchild, Frankey looked at them and said; “You can bet your ass I will be meeting my new grandson.” Frankey did just that. She beat the odds and was on FaceTime for the birth. This is just one of many ways Frankey demonstrated her love for the grandchildren.

Frankey is survived by her children: Carrie (James) Taylor of Jefferson, Tracy (Lance) Degeneffe of Ogden, Lynn (Tom) Annear of Wyoming, and John (Jill) Anderson of Huxley; grandchildren: Amber (Brandon) Godwin, Justin and Courtney Gymer, Seth (Danielle), Shane, Dalton, Caeddance, Logan Butler, Tiffany (Justin) Murphy, Brooke Taylor, Austin (Karissa) Taylor, Abby (Donovan Erickson) Delp, Trent Ganoe, Amber and Dominic Degeneffe, Kae and Julie Anderson, and Andrew Annear; 17 great grandchildren; special extended children: Mark and Jan Clouse; brother: Paul Bartley of Boone; sister-in-law: Arlis Bartley of Jefferson; brothers-in-law: Dick Leedom, and Jack (Delores) Anderson both of Jefferson; many nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives; and many friends.

Frankey began planning her funeral in August and told her family exactly what she wanted. Frankey shared “I am survived by Jerry Dean. He was my nephew, but to me he was like my son who took very good care of me and was always there for Jim and I. “I love you Jake.” Also, Barb, “She is my sister, my rock and not just my cousin. I will always love you.” To Mark: “I will miss our daily visits and I love you like a son.”

Frankey is proceeded in death by her parents Frank and Josephine, husband: Jim Anderson, son: Rodney Butler; sisters: Rosie, Evelyn, Marvel, Jeannie, and Deloris, brothers: Gayle and Duane.

Service of Remembrance was held at 6 p.m. Friday, March 25 at Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home in Jefferson.
