Fereleen (Roberts) Acton, 77, of rural Rippey, died Sunday, May 20, 2018, on the family farm.
Fereleen Willa (Roberts) Acton was born June 10, 1940 in Elk Creek, Missouri to Willard and Grace (Browne) Roberts. She graduated from Scranton High School in Scranton, Iowa in 1960 and attended the Iowa School of Beauty.
On Jan. 7, 1967 she was united in marriage to Daniel Acton at St. Brigid Church. Fereleen worked for a time in a salon before staying home to raise her family and work on the farm with Dan. Fereleen loved her family and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, Hannah and Emma. She volunteered throughout the community, loved any garage sale she could find and was a long-time season ticket holder of the Drake University Women’s Basketball team.
Mass of the Resurrection was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 23 at St. Brigid Catholic Church in Grand Junction, Iowa with Fr. Jeff Schleisman as the celebrant. Heather Acton gave the reading. Altar servers were Kaitlin and Allison Fields. Honorary bearers were Cap and Sandy Ridgway, Jim and Lois Last, Joel and Jenon Cody, Jon Cody, Dianne Blackmer, Julie Blackmer, Jerry and Janice Kennedy, Marietta and Harry Coil, and Bev and Larry Murphy. Brenda Roberts was the soloist, accompanied by Lois Last. Interment was at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Grand Junction.
Fereleen is survived by her husband, Daniel Acton of Rippey; sons, Chris (Melody) Acton of Des Moines and Jon (Heather) Acton of Jefferson; daughters, Heather Acton of Des Moines and Heidi Acton of Columbus, Neb.; two grandchildren, Hannah and Emma; sisters, Ollie Radthje of Perry and Gladys (Joe) Taylor of Jefferson; brothers: David (Marilyn) Roberts of Jefferson, Delmar (Carol) of Marshalltown, Doyle Roberts and Donald (Pat) Roberts all of Scranton; and many nieces and nephews.
