Emmalou Welch

Emmalou Welch, age 92, passed away Oct. 8, 2022 in Iowa City.
Emmalou was born Nov. 28, 1929 in Jefferson, the daughter of Theodore and Mary (Gosar) Pfaff. Emmalou was a woman who was full of love and wisdom for her family and those whom she taught throughout her career as a teacher. Emmalou also enjoyed playing cards. She loved music, country music being her favorite, and enjoyed dancing. She was also a collector of many things (Hummel figurines had a knack of finding their way into her home). Emmalou’s passing leaves an emptiness in our hearts. However, her love and the lessons that she taught over the years will be carried on by all who love her.
Emmalou’s family include her husband of 71 years, James; children, Alan (Kathy) Welch, Martin (Cindi) Welch, Perry (Tania) Welch and Teresa Peterson; grandchildren, Megan, Matt, Zachary, Jacob, Emma, Olivia and Michael; great grandchildren, Avery, Bennett, Kensington, McCoy and Owen.  Sadly, she is preceded in death by her sister, Rosemary; and her parents, Theodore and Mary.
A simple cremation has been arranged for Emmalou in accordance with her wishes and no services are planned at this time.  In lieu of flowers, memorial condolences are suggested to Boys Town (boystown.org) .
