Elizabeth Hoyt

Elizabeth Hoyt, 84, of Bagley, was born Elizabeth Mae Edwards on Sept. 2, 1934, and passed away on April 13.

Visitation with family and friends, followed by a funeral service, was held April 16 at the Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home. 

Words of comfort were provided by Chaplain Deborah Spidle, St. Croix Hospice. Music was “How Great Thou Art” and “Amazing Grace.”

Casket bearers were Marshall Hoyt, Damon Hoyt, Joshua Brown, Doug Sukovaty, Gib Sukovaty and Bruce Mobley.

Honorary bearers were Shane Hoyt, Sunny Kolbe and Jason Meyers.  

Interment was in the Greenbrier Twp. Cemetery.

Elizabeth was born in Hot Springs, Ark., and she was welcomed home by her older brother and sister. The family moved to South Pasadena, Calif., when she was 2 years old. 

Liz grew up a true California girl with a love for the beach and warm weather. She graduated from South Pasadena High School then went to trade school and worked as a receptionist until she met Kenneth Hoyt.

Kenneth and Elizabeth were united in marriage on Jan. 31, 1953, in a double wedding with lifelong friends Gene and Mona Sukovaty. Liz and Mona had a friendship that spanned 70 years.

Liz enjoyed traveling with Ken, especially to see their children and grandchildren. She enjoyed camping in their “mini” which, by her request, very often ended up by the water. The Hoyt and Sukovaty families spent the years traveling and celebrating life together. Ken and Liz also traveled with their neighbors, the Kolbes, to Table Rock Lake in Arkansas and with the Mobley family to the Clay County Fair every year. 

Liz enjoyed nature, as long as it was by the water, spending time at Springbrook Lake with Mona and their children and later her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always willing to take any of them to the beach. She was proud of her family and what they accomplished and loved their visits. She would share the news of their accomplishments with a smile to her friends. Her family was everything to her: all you had to do was walk in her kitchen and see her fridge, which has been covered with pictures for as long as anyone can remember. 

Elizabeth is survived by her children: Marshal Hoyt (Patty McKee), of Perry; and Linda Gilseth, of Bagley; her grandchildren: Callie Sublette (Neal Fobian), of Huxley; Josh and Katie Brown, of St. Louis; Damon Hoyt, of Tucson, Ariz.;  and Shane Hoyt, of Maui, Hawaii; and four great-grandchildren: Elizabeth and Lindsay Sublette; and Zeke and Olivia Brown.
