Donna Sheehy

Donna Dee Sheehy, age 79, died Thursday, January 1, 2015

Services are planned for 10:00 a.m., Jan. 10 at Carris Family Funeral Home, 1721 Park Street, Perry with visitation one hour prior to the service. Committal rites will follow at Violet Hill Cemetery, Perry.

Born on Sept. 1, 1935 on a farm near Rippey to Ralph and Bessie (Zaruba) Sheehy, Donna flourished in a bountiful childhood growing up on farms near Rippey, Yale, and Bagley with a short time spent in Perry. She graduated from Bagley High School in 1953.

After high school graduation, she attended AIB and worked in Des Moines for several years before moving to San Francisco where she lived for 43 years. Her career included working in the corporate worlds of radio/television broadcasting, and commercial/residential property management. She then became self-employed as a successful entrepreneur specializing in international business writing and career/resume development.

Other career opportunities included modeling assignments for Revlon, Clairol, Birds Eye Foods, TV commercials, and various industrial shows. Her volunteer work included Townhome Association President and Women’s Ministries Chairperson.

After retirement, Donna enjoyed an active social life including membership in the West Des Moines Christian Church and the Lunch Bunch Ladies along with crafting, decorating, photography, creative writing, and project development. She cherished her precious time spent with family and friends. Donna was a dedicated advocate for healthy living and animal wellness.

She is survived by two nephews, Todd and Derric Fane, and a niece, Megan Rigby, along with nine grandnephews and grandnieces. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Delores (Sheehy) Fane.
