March 15, 1932, a daughter was born in the Boone County farm home of William and Velma Anderson near Rippey. She was named Dena Pearl for her grandmothers. In 1936, the family moved to Grand Junction. All of her school years were at Grand Junction Consolidated Schools, where she graduated in 1949. After graduation, Dena attended a two-month business course and began working in the office of Wiltse and Mears in Grand Junction. She was employed there until she and Bob Clause were married in 1954.
While living on the Clause farm, Bob and Dena raised their family and participated in many community and school activities. Dena was a member of the Jefferson Church of Christ where, as a young mother, she taught Bible school and Sunday school. In later years, she attended the Ogden Church of Christ.
In 1974, Dena began employment in the business office at Greene County Hospital where she worked for 25 years. She was a charter member of the Greene County Hospital Auxiliary. Her other volunteer activities included the Elderbridge board and the Elder- Bridge advisory council, 4-H leader and 25 years of delivering meals to Grand Junction ill and/or elderly.
After Bob passed away in 2010, Dena moved to Jefferson. She always believed that being married for 56 years to a beloved man and raising three wonderful children were the greatest blessings of her life.
She is survived by her children: Joy (Don) Burgoyne, Jill (John) Anderson and Rob (Joyce) Clause; seven grandchildren and two great-granddaughters. Dena is also survived by her aunt, Sarah Byrns and many other treasured relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her husband; an infant son; an infant daughter; her parents and her brother, Vernon.
In lieu of flowers, Dena wished memorials be directed to her favorite charities: Greene County Medical Center Foundation, Jefferson), P.A.W.S., Jefferson and Christian Relief Fund, PO Box 19670, Amarillo, TX 79114.
