Delpha Andrusyk

Delpha Ruth (McLaury) Andrusyk, 104, of Tucson, Arizona passed away Monday, October 23,2023 at home. Delpha was born May 18, 1919 in Fayette County, Iowa. She graduated from Upper Iowa University and taught elementary school for 22 years. She met Anthony(Tony) Andrusyk at Upper Iowa and they married May 30,1942. They settled in Jefferson Iowa and lived there until retirement when they moved to Tucson. Delpha was an active member at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jefferson and later at St. Francis de Sales in Tucson. 

Delpha and Tony belonged to golf courses in both Jefferson and Tucson. Delpha was very proud of the Hole in One she scored at the age of 88. She continued to golf until she was 99. Delpha loved to read, play bridge, and play other card and board games. She had a passion for sports, especially watching her sons play and later the Arizona Wildcats. 

From their union, Delpha and Tony had five sons. Peter (deceased), John (Fran), Robert (Donna), David (Sharon), and Stephen (Denise). Grandchildren include Alex (Tori) Gettler, Ashly Winkle, Tony Andrusyk, Tucker (Nicole) Andrusyk, Ian (Julie) Andrusyk, Jara (Josh) Hoover, Wyatt Coleman, Amber Vincent, Aja (JR) Gregory, and Luke (Molly) Andrusyk. Delpha also cherished her 16 great grandchildren, 

Delpha was preceded in death by her husband Tony, her son Pete, her parents Arthur and Bertha McLaury, her siblings Leslie, Harry, Zaida, Vincent, Zenita, Imogene and her grandsons-in-law Daniel Vincent and William Winkle. 

Graveside services will be held in Jefferson in the spring along with a celebration of her life. Memorials may be directed to the Jefferson Public Library or to St. Francis de Sales Church in Tucson.
