Cindi Cummings

A service for Cindi Mae Cummings was held 10:30 a.m. Dec. 16at the First Presbyterian Church in Jefferson. Visitation was after 1:00 p.m. Dec. 15 with family present from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Hastings Funeral Home in Jefferson. Rev. Gordon Moen of the First Presbyterian Church provided words of comfort. Casket bearers were: Alex Rueter, Tyler Johnston, Chris Butterfield, Cory Cummings, Jamie Seratt and Andrew Hatfield. Charles Radke and Jenn Nelson were the pianists. Piano solo “In The Morning Light” by Jenn Nelson and vocal solo “The Lord’s Prayer” by Jenn Nelson. Interment took place at the Jefferson Cemetery in Jefferson, Iowa. Following the service at the cemetery was a luncheon at the church.

Cindi Mae Cummings, daughter of Clyde Curtis Lane and Alyce Grace Brown Lane, was born January 28, 1954 in Jefferson, Iowa and died December 12, 2014 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa at the age of 60.

Cindi grew up in Jefferson where she graduated high school. She worked as a car-hop for A & W on roller skates as her first job. On February 28, 1976 Cindi was united in marriage to Tom Cummings and the couple was blessed with three children Kelley, Kristin and Kale. They lived in Jefferson for a year then moved to Grand Junction. Cindi was a payroll clerk at Midland Power in Jefferson for 28 years, she then took a position at Wright Tree Service. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the BPOE “Does”. Cindi was described as an awesome mom by her children and many others. She loved unconditionally. She doted on her grandchildren. Cindi leaves a legacy to her family of humor, caring, perseverance, loyalty, generosity, and incredible strength. She loved all holidays especially Christmas when everyone had equal and abundant amount of gifts. Cindi handled her cancer with grace and courage always focusing on her family and others, not herself. She loved her dog Harley, cat Sadie and her goldfish. Cindi enjoyed cooking, quilting, sewing, and shopping.

Cindi was preceded in death by her grandparents and aunt Arlis Coover. She is survived by her daughters Kelley Lowe (Bill) of Grand Junction and Kristin Russell (Paul John) of Jefferson; son Kale Cummings (fiancé Ashlee Inman) of West Des Moines,; parents Clyde “Buzz” and Alyce Lane of Lake View; grandchildren: Tia Lowe, Tori Lowe, William Lowe, Kaden Lowe, Tegan Lowe, Collin Russell and Lane Russell; brothers Dave Lane (Mary) of Algona, and Neal Lane of Reedsburg, Wisc.; aunts and uncles: Bill Lane (Pat) of Urbandale, Ron Lane (Patti) of Des Moines, Rich Lane (Janice) of Jefferson, Vi Vaughn of Jefferson, Pat Triplett (Clyde) of Mesa, Ariz.  and Audrey Larsh (Merrill) of Las Vegas, Nev.; cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many many friends.
