Barbara Newton

Barbara Jean Newton, 57, of Grand Junction, Iowa, passed away Friday, February 2, 2018 at 0600 at Unity Point Hospital in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Barb was born March 8, 1960 to Iris (Susan) Ripley and Paul Bishop in Lake City, Iowa. Barb graduated from East Greene High School in 1978 and continued on to get her Associates Degree of Nursing in 1982. Barb married Lawrence (Larry) Newton in 1984, they later separated. Barb worked for a couple years at Gowrie and then went on to work at Perry Lutheran Home for 25 years. She enjoyed making cards, watching Elvis movies and loving her fur babies.

Barb is survived by her four sons: Chad Newton of West Palm Beach, Fla., Adam (Rebecca)Newton of Fort Madison, Iowa, Brian Newton of Churdan, Iowa and Dan (Jacy)Newton of Grand Junction, Iowa; two step-children, Tony (Brandi) Newton and Tracy Newton; a brother, Bill Bishop; and two sisters, Betty (Jimmy) Dykes and Brenda (Greg) Phillips; six grandchildren: Kaylee, Mackenzie, Isaac, Jacob, Nala and Emma; two grand-dogs, Bella and Bentley; and a niece and two nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.

There was a celebration of life at the Grand Junction Community Center Wednesday, February 7 from 3 to 6. p.m. Cremation was handled by Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home in Jefferson, Iowa.  Family are in charge of remains.
