Student sprays his teacher with chemical cleaner

Staff report
A 16-year-old Greene County High School student was arrested and charged in juvenile court this week with misdemeanor simple-assault after police say he sprayed a teacher in the face with disinfectant.

According to a police report, the student was unhappy when asked to clean up his mess in class and “ended up spraying a teacher in the face with a chemical cleaner” before leaving the room and going home.

The police were called to the scene at 3:37 p.m. Monday and arrested the student after locating him.

Jefferson Police Chief Mark Clouse said that to his knowledge the teacher did not require medical assistance.

According to the Greene County Student Code of Conduct: A student who commits an assault against an employee on school district property... will be suspended by the principal. Notice of the suspension is sent to the board president. The board will review the suspension to determine whether to impose further sanctions against the student which may include expulsion.

Greene County Superintendent Tim Christensen said he is unable to release student disciplinary information.
