Scranton to party!
The countdown to the “Sesqui” is on.
Scranton will celebrate its 150th birthday — known officially as a sesquicentennial — on June 29.
The Scranton Sesqui parade is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. that day, departing from the Community Center.
The parade entry participation form is online at https://www.scrantonsesqui2019.com/, or register for the parade at City Hall.
City Hall has commemorative Scranton items available for sale.
The day is set to begin at 8:30 a.m. with Breakfast with the Mayor at the Community Center, and doesn’t stop until 11 p.m. with DJ Denny Matthews in the adult beverage tent.
And what’s a party without food?
Food vendors on Sesqui day will offer leg of lamb, lamb burgers, egg rolls, sliders, chicken and rice, Highland Philly cheesesteak, hamburgers, pulled pork, bacon mac and cheese, brisket, burnt ends, pulled chicken, pulled pork, corn on the cob, nachos, gyros, hot dogs, mini doughnuts, pretzels, slushies and ice cream. Jams, jellies, pies, cookies, juice and jerky will also be for sale.
