Rowland’s Jefferson town houses ready in early 2020
By DOUGLAS BURNS
Clive-based Rowland Real Estate expects to have 12 townhomes ready for rental in Jefferson in early 2020, company president Andy Rowland said Monday.
“So far, everyone’s really excited about it, new units to live in,” Rowland said. “They’re all electric. Utilities will be really inexpensive.”
The construction of the townhomes on the 500 block of North Olive Street by Rowland, who expects to do more in Jefferson, will help alleviate one of the city’s long-running concerns: availability of housing.
Peoples Bank is doing the financing. The Greene County Development Corp. donated the land.
Rents start at $850 a month for a two-year lease, and go to $875 a month for a year lease.
“I’m hoping they get snatched up quick,” Rowland said. “I’ve had a few calls.”
The townhomes have two bedrooms, washer-and-dryer hook-ups, two-car detached garage, refrigerator, stove, dishwasher and microwave.
No pets or smoking allowed.
Rowland said he has one approved application so far. The apartments are market-based with no government subsidies involved in the lease arrangements.
The townhomes are being built with three structures with four units in each. End units are ranch and the middle units are two-story.
Two-story homes have one and a half baths. The ranch units have one full bathroom.
Rowland will handle yard work and snow removal.
