Post lands teen in major trouble

Staff report
A 15-year-old Jefferson boy will face a felony terrorism charge after allegedly posting a photo on social media of eight guns with the message “Ready for school 7 can join me.”

The FBI informed Jefferson police Sunday morning of the photo after it was flagged on the messaging app Snapchat.

After visiting the boy’s home in the 300 block of East McKinley Street, he was arrested for threat of terrorism and first-degree harassment.

The teen told police “he was just kidding and would not do a school shooting,” Police Chief Mark Clouse said.

The boy doesn’t have a history with local police, according to Clouse.

Police seized three 12-gauge shotguns, one .22-caliber rifle with a scope and three pellet guns.

A small amount of ammo was also located, according to Clouse.

Pictures and messages on Snapchat are supposed to be available only for a short time.
