Police Report, March 1-8

March 1
9:19 a.m. - A traffic stop at Grimmell Road and Central Street resulted in Rafael Reyes of Connecticut being cited for failure to have a valid driver’s license.
11:27 a.m. - Officers assisted the Greene County Ambulance service with a medical call in the 300 Block of N. Cedar Street.
12:05 p.m. - Officers assisted the Greene County Ambulance service with a medical call in the 100 block of W. State Street.
12:56 p.m. - Josh Hinote reported a stray dog in the 400 block of N. Chestnut Street. The animal was back with the owner when officers arrived in the area.
1:30 p.m. - Officers provided a live trap to a resident in the 600 Block of E. Adams after they reported a possible sick fox in the area.
3:04 p.m. - Jill Byriel turned in a cell phone she had found in the 600 Block of W. State Street.
4:40 p.m. - Officers investigated an accident in the private parking at 208 W. Lincoln Way Street. A 2017 Chevrolet Silverado, owned by Drees Heating and Plumbing of Carroll, was parked in the parking lot. A 2013 Dodge Avenger, owned and operated by Katheryn Rice of Jefferson, was reversing in the lot and struck the Silverado. The Drees vehicle had a reported $500 in damages, while the Rice vehicle had suffered a reported $1,000 in damages. No citation issued.
7:01 p.m. - Officers went to 306 West Reed and arrested Michael Allen Olson, 60, of Jefferson on outstanding Jefferson Police Department arrest warrants. The charges stem from a burglary at 206 W. McKinley Street on Feb. 18. The charges were for second degree burglary and fifth degree theft.
7:27 p.m. - Karyn Parker requested a welfare check on her children at 606 S. Maple Street. The officer spoke to the father and children, who were fine.
9:56 p.m. - Officers were called to 307 N. Olive Street for a reported assault having just occurred. The officer and deputies arrived and spoke to numerous people involved in the incident. The investigation continues.

March 2
12:41 a.m. - Amy Baugh reported a possible trespass at 307 North Olive Street. The officer located the reported subjects in the building. The investigation continues, as it may be a Civil Matter.
7:47 a.m. - Amy Baugh reported a possible Theft of a cell phone from 307 North Olive Street. The officer is investigating.
9:42 a.m. - A caller advised of a male walking a dog near State Street and Grimmell Road who was mistreating the animal. The officer located the subject and spoke to him about the complaint. The dog appeared to be fine.
12:51 p.m. - Uvette Winger reported her son’s vehicle had broken down at Elm Street and Highway 30. The vehicle was removed a short time later.
12:52 p.m. - J&K Redemption reported a parked semi and trailer on Lincoln Way which was blocking access to her business. The vehicle had left the area before the officer arrived.
1:05 p.m. - The Greene County Middle School reported a vehicle doing donuts in the gravel parking lot at the facility. A possible driver’s name was given to the officer, who is working to speak to the subject and parents about the issue.
3:26 p.m. - Karyn Parker spoke to an officer about a civil Issue with a vehicle. The officer told her to contact her attorney.
4:15 p.m. - An officer investigated an accident in the 100 block of E. Redd Street. A 1977 Chevrolet truck, owned and operated by Charles Heimer of Jefferson, was eastbound on E. Reed Street. A 2012 Ford Fusion, owned by Rebecca Chumley and operated by Regan Tuhn of Jefferson, was reversing from a private drive and struck the passing Chevy vehicle. Both vehicles had a reported $300 in damages. Tuhn was cited for unsafe backing upon a highway.
6:37 p.m. - A deputy requested an officer to check on a reported fire at 1463 210th Street. The officer met with subjects who were watching the controlled burn.
9:03 p.m. - Melinda Madison reported damage to her vehicle’s windshield while parked at 105 N. Walnut Street. The officer did an insurance report for the reported damage.
10:28 p.m. - A caller reported a careless driver on Highway 30, heading west towards Jefferson. The officer located the vehicle and noticed a tail light was out and performed a traffic stop on Wild Rose Lane. The officer showed no signs of impairment as the officer spoke to him about the complaint.
    
March 4
1:17 a.m. - An officer assisted the Greene County Ambulance Service with a medical call in the 400 Block of Greenwood Road.
7:41 a.m. - A caller advised of something burning in the 1200 block of Rushridge Road. The officer did not locate the source of the smell.
8:56 a.m. - An officer started a theft investigation in which lumber was taken from a construction site at Cedar Street and Reed Street.
9:49 a.m. - The Greene County Treasurer’s Office requested a welfare check on a subject in the 300 block of Greenwood Road. The officer spoke to the subject, who was fine.
12:04 p.m. - An officer investigated an accident at the intersection of N. Locust Street and W. Adams Street. A 2001 Chevrolet Silverado, owned and operated by Mindy Ford of Jefferson, was northbound on N. Locust Street. A 1995 Chevrolet S-10, owned and operated by Christian Paniagua of Jefferson, was westbound on W. Adams Street. The vehicles collided in the intersection. Ford’s vehicle had a reported $2,000 in damages, while Paniagua’s vehicle suffered a reported $1,500 in damages. Ford was cited for failure to yield to vehicle on the right.
12:51 p.m. - Fareway provided officers with video of a subject shopping who has been banned from the property. The officer is investigating.
2:06 p.m. - Officers assisted a subject who had locked themselves out of their residence in the 300 block of E. State Street. The officers were able to gain access without damage.
3:52 p.m. - The NRCS Office in Storm Lake requested an officer to speak to the resident at 506 N. Vine Street. They have been receiving numerous calls from the subject about a broken water line, but can not help him. The officer asked the subject to end the calls.
8:42 p.m. - Adam Coyne reported a male in dark clothing walking in the traveled portion of the road on Highway 30 near Elm Street. An officer located the subject and warned him about the issue.
9:36 p.m. - Officers responded to 600 W. Lincoln Way after receiving a call about a domestic assault having occurred there. The officer spoke to the female, who reported physical assault. The officer found evidence to support the claim and has requested an arrest warrant for Zachary Allen Waters-Rice, 25 of Jefferson for domestic abuse assault/impeding air/blood flow, a Class D Felony.

March 5
3:58 a.m. - The Greene County Medical Center ER requested an officer at 1000 W. Lincoln Way for an irate patient. Hospital staff had worked out the issue before the officer arrived.
3:20 p.m. - Bill Hamell reported a tank, possibly leaking a gas at 900 East Hwy. 30. The officer found nothing in the area.
10:43 p.m. - A caller reported a couple who appeared to be physically fighting in a vehicle outside of Wild Rose Casino. An officer located the vehicle and spoke to the couple. Neither party would admit a physical fight. The officer took no action.
11:41 p.m. - An officer was requested at the Greene County Medical Center ER for a female who had been assaulted by her brother. The officer is investigating.

March 6
3:49 p.m. - An officer assisted the GC Ambulance Service with a medical call in the 200 block of N. Oak Street.
6:19 p.m. - Cody Lepur requested an officer to assist him in a civil property exchange. The officer assisted in the exchange.
7:30 p.m. - Kayla Cannon spoke with an officer in connection to a civil issue she had with staff at A&W. The business tried to work out the issue, but Cannon left.
7:41 p.m. - Cody Lepur reported two German Shepherds were attacking a dog that was being walked by its owner in the 400 block of N. Oak Street. The officer located a female and saw minor injuries on the animal. The officer issued Larry Jon Hovick two citations for animal at large. The animals were ordered to leave the city of Jefferson, per ordinance, after a 10-day quarantine.

March 7
12:25 a.m. - A traffic stop at the intersection of Highway 30 and Mulberry Street resulted in Anna Talbott of Perry being cited for failure to have a valid license.
8:28 a.m. -  An officer assisted the GC Ambulance Service with a medical call in the 100 block of Ram Drive.
1:19 p.m. - An officer was advised of an abandoned 911 call from 116 W. State Street. The officer spoke to staff inside and learned no assistance was needed.
5 p.m. - The Greene County Medical Center ER reported a possible intoxicated driver leaving 1000 W. Lincoln Way. Officers were unable to locate the reported vehicle.
7:27 p.m. - A caller reported a subject in the drive thru at A&W who does not have a valid license. Officers did not locate the subject.
*******    Officers issued 14 parking – snow ordinance citations from the recent snow event overnight on March 6.
