New Super 8 owners could expand, build

Sean Patel and his family took ownership of the Jefferson Super 8 Motel Oct. 4.

The family, already signed up as members of the Greene County Chamber of Commerce and living in an apartment within the motel, are looking to expand the 34-room lodging business at 207 W. Gallup Road.

“Down the road, we’d like to grow and expand,” said Patel, 25, the motel’s general manager.

That could involve expansion of the existing motel, or the possible construction of a new one, all depending on demand, Patel said.

“Nothing is concrete,” he said.

The Patels are involved with lodging interests in Missouri with the Super 8 and Days Inn chains.

They purchased the Jefferson Super 8 from Dutt Properties, Inc.

Sean Patel moved to Jefferson from Philadelphia (he referenced the Eagles and cheesesteak sandwiches in the interview). His parents, Ashik and Beena Patel, are living in Jefferson as well.

“One of my motivations is to give back to the local community,” Sean Patel said Wednesday as he checked guests into three rooms.

Patel said he already has spoken with Greene County Development Corp. Executive Director Ken Paxton about how his family’s motel will fit in with ongoing development in Jefferson.

Patel spies a number of growth opportunities in the hospitality business in Jefferson.
