Medical center offering tours of new expansion

Greene County Medical Center will hold guided public tours Saturday morning of its new, 52,000-square-foot addition.

The new addition is slated to open sometime in August.

Led by the medical center’s leadership team, the tours from 9 a.m. to noon will provide an up-close look at the new patient rooms, which are designed for privacy and comfort.

The new emergency department will be on the tour, as well as the private pre/post surgery rooms.

With some areas still under construction, visitors also will get a look at the complexity of the overall, $22.5 million building project.

Once complete, the expansion will house inpatient rooms; new labor/delivery rooms and nursery; surgery; imaging; laboratory; respiratory services; pharmacy services; and a more visible and accessible emergency department.

After the expansion opens, renovations will begin on the current acute area and outpatient services areas.

Administrative offices and functions will be housed in the acute care area and the current outpatient services area will include expanded West Central Orthopedics, new space for Advanced Women’s Care, 21st Century Rehab services and additional space for current and upcoming specialty clinic services.

Tours on Saturday will last approximately 30 minutes.

Refreshments will be provided for those in attendance.
