Lincoln Highway Day to benefit broken pool

Lincoln Highway Day is set for July 23 in Grand Junction.

The day will raise money for the Grand Junction city pool, which is in need of repairs and closed this season.

The complete schedule of events:

11 a.m. — The Lincoln Highway Museum on Main Street and Jerry Kennedy Museum on East Hager Street will open.

11 a.m. to 8 p.m. — Silent auction at the Community Center. Items will be on display before July 23 at Peoples Trust and Savings Bank.

11 a.m. to noon — Pie baking contest at the Community Center (enter two crust pies, adult and kid divisions; $25 first prize in each division).

11 a.m. to 2 p.m. — Vendor fair at the Community Center.

11 a.m. to 2 p.m. — Bake sale at the Community Center.

11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. — Free-will donation lunch at the Community Center served by the Grand Junction Park and Rec board (beefburger sandwiches, chips, bars, drinks).

1 to 2 p.m. — Street games in front of the library and green space to the west.

1:30 to 3:30 p.m. — Ice cream truck on Main Street.

2 p.m. — Puppet show presented by Jesters at the Grand Junction Public Library.

2 to 3:30 p.m. — Bingo at the Community Center.

3 p.m. — Kids games at the public library.

3 to 5 p.m. — 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament at tennis court (call Mark Renslow to register at 515-370-2373).

3:30 p.m. — Greene County Singers at the Community Center.

3:30 to 4:30 p.m. — Kids water fights, west end of Main Street.

4:30 p.m. — One-act play, “Frumpled Fairy Tales,” by Bill Springer at the Community Center.

5 p.m. — Parade (starting at bus barn, up 14th Street to Main Street, ending at 11th Street).

5:30 p.m. — Interviews with king and queen candidates at  the Community Center.

5:30 to 7 p.m. — Free-will donation supper at the Community Center served by the Greene County Pork Producers (grilled pork sandwich, pasta salad, baked beans, drinks).

5:30 to 7 p.m. — Ice cream social at the Community Center sponsored by the Grand Junction Methodist Church.

7:15 p.m. — One-act play, “Frumpled Fairy Tales,” at the Community Center.

7:45 p.m. — Jaws of Life demonstration at the Grand Junction Fire Department.

8 to 9 p.m. — Bingo at the Community Center.

9 p.m. — Fun Run/Walk (begins at the Community Center).

9:30 to 10:30 p.m. — Food and beverages at the Community Center following the Fun Run/Walk.

9 p.m. — Klassic Karaoke and D.J. at Fergs (cover charge being donated to the Grand Junction Pool Fund).
