Kansas’ “Leftoverture”: Did anyone in high school in the late ‘70s not own this record?

Kansas coming to Jefferson

Staff report
All we are is snow in the wind.

Or something like that.

Wild Rose Jefferson the day after Christmas took to social media to announce a slate of spring concerts — including an April 23 date by Kansas, who’s probably being played on KGGO at this exact second.

The band’s biggest hit was “Dust in the Wind,” but anyone who’s listened to classic-rock radio for more than a week could probably get up and play the keyboard parts of “Carry On Wayward Son” and “Point of Know Return” with no problem.

At one time considered America’s great prog-rock band, Garth Brooks is on record as calling them as much of an influence on his career as the Eagles and the Beatles.

Tickets for the band’s show in the casino’s 1,000-seat Greene Room Event Center start at $51.50, and go on sale at 10 a.m. Monday at the casino’s Iowa Store, online at wildroseresorts.com or by calling 515-386-7777.

Lead singer Ronnie Platt joined the band in 2014, replacing original lead singer Steve Walsh.

Also announced: A show March 18 by the Celtic band Gaelic Storm. Tickets start at $31.50, and also go on sale Monday.
